“MHS of Thee…”

School Cheer Song:
“Go Bobcats, go
No matter who the foe may be.
Fight, Fight, Fight!
Go Bobcats, go
We're out to win so be it; On to victory!
Let's roll, Bobcats, roll
And run the score up to the sky.
Red and Blue will ever do or die;
Go Bobcats from Marshalltown High.”

School Hymn:
“Through the years at our MHS,
Red and blue will proudly fly;
And the spirit of it lingers
As each year goes by
Many happy times together
Spent in perfect harmony
All these memories we will cherish
MHS of thee.”

School Colors: Red & Blue

School Mascot” Bobcat

The office manager at the Marshalltown High School contacted me recently to place a custom order for a dozen pens. She was organizing a secretary’s luncheon prior to school starting and wanted something unique to give them for all their hard work over the summer.

As an alumnus of this Central Iowa senior high, I was excited to create a special treasure for her to present.

The polymer clay covered pens, of course had to have the signature red and blue colors, and as an added layer of individuality inspired by the fur of the bobcat’s face, I incorporated a streak of white throughout.

Each pen was stamped with the letters “MHS” and accompanied by a matching mini composition notebook.

I made the patterned paper to cover the mini notebook using the clone tool in Procreate on the iPad.

Instant replay of cloning pen image in Procreate.

I was happy to hear “everybody loved them!”

[I’m not going to say what year I graduated, but I was in elementary school when the band director who wrote the school hymn was still teaching. :) “…MHS of thee.”]
