Look at Me, Here I am, Right Where I Belong…
“Look at me
Here I am
Right where I belong
I see that face coming back to me
Like an old familiar song”-Right Where I Belong, Muppets Take Manhattan, 1984
One of my main passions, along with painting and sketching, is theatre. I grew up in a children’s theatre, from the ages of 5 to 17, acting in plays, learning in classes, and making life-long friends. From there I went on to earn my Theatre Performance degree at Waldorf Univeristy, made some wonderful friends there and participated in some amazing shows. Theatre has been such a big part of my life; it’s a way for me to express myself while also learning about human beings and providing them with an emotional outlet as well as entertainment.
Since I graduated college in 2021, I haven’t been able to participate in theatre due to scheduling and getting used to a post-grad adult life. Once something so important to you is taken out of your life, for some reason or another, you realize how important it is to your way of life. However, my boyfriend and I recently moved to Cedar Falls where he works as the Technical Director for the Cedar Falls Community Theatre which has given me the perfect opportunity to get back in the saddle again.
I am currently getting ready for the fall production of this season, The Hound of the Baskervilles: A Comic Thriller Starring Shirley Homes and Jennie Watson. I have the great pleasure of playing Shirley Holmes and I’ve been having so much fun working with wonderful new friends! It has brought me so much joy to be back on stage. So I encourage you, Purple Butterfly reader, to revisit old passions. It’s never too late to do something you love.
