An Apron Inspired by Oktoberfest
I know it’s technically still summer but I’d be lying if I wasn’t highly anticipating fall. There’s something about the trees all full of color and a cool breeze running through the air that fills me with joy. This beautiful season is the perfect background for fun events with family and friends! Tailgates, pumpkin patches, harvest festivals and of course Oktoberfest!
I have great memories of going to the Oktoberfest in my hometown. They would close downtown and bring out a makeshift stage for a polka band to play on. There would be a feast of brats, sauerkraut, and my favorite, necklaces made out of pretzels. Everyone would be sampling a variety of hand crafted brews while playing bocce ball or bag toss. The sun hits the autumn leaves just right and laughter would fill the air.
So when Mom and I had an event at Fat Hill Brewing earlier this month, I immediately thought of an Oktoberfest themed apron. Originally, I had an idea to do a Polka-Dot apron, in which I would make a pattern of polka dancers that look like polka dots all over the dress. However, I couldn’t get the pattern just right so I had to pivot to a different idea. And the dress idea came to me and was immediately excited to try it and was very happy with the end result!
Happy early Oktoberfest and hope your fall is magical!
