More About the “Mom” of this Mother/Daughter Small Business
Deb Rohne has enjoyed all kinds of crafts for as long as she can remember. From her earliest memory of sculpting with playdoh at age five to emulating her dad’s many art endeavors, including painting, drawing, and leatherwork. String art, candlemaking, photography, and seed bead chokers also found a place in the repertoire of projects. Her passion and enthusiasm for creating innovatively led her to start a line of jewelry using her handmade denim beads. This adventure took her to craft fairs around North Iowa and opening up an online store on Etsy. She sold pieces on consignment at the Top of Iowa Welcome Center boutique as well as in the Mason City MacNider Art Museum gift shop.

Deb’s favorite pastime—sitting in her chair snuggled in a plush purple blanket crocheting and binging Netflix.
Deb has also written and illustrated a self-published children’s book and a pray-in-color workbook in addition to contributing to several other publications, like Country EXTRA magazine.

From administrative assistant jobs and full-time caregiver for her parents to homeschool teacher for Mary’s 8th-12th grades, and mom (to a boy and a girl ten years apart in age)—Deb’s various life experiences have kept her looking at current trends to connect her creativity to her station in life.
Her latest endeavor harkens back to her playdoh days. She is fascinated by the infinite designs she can create with polymer clay and takes great care in making every one-of-a-kind pen and beaded keyrings which are available in this mother and daughter online gift boutique. The fact that she gets to share this business with her beautiful daughter is a treasured experience.
